This Might Be For You - Life Choices is looking for professionals to mentor Leaders' Quest participants. Leaders' Quest is a three year intervention aimed at supporting young people from developing communities to have a fair chance in life.
My Roles as a Mentor
As a mentor you will be supporting a young person through a crucial time in his/her life. Your mentee will be in grade 12 and you will work with him/her for a minimum of 18 months.
A person who can encourage learners to persevere and show care so that the mentee knows they are not alone in dealing with day-to-day challenges.
A person who can ignite hope and is a positive role model.
A SOURCE OF INFORMATION / DOOR OPENER
A person who assists mentee to establish a helpful network of contacts. The mentor introduces the mentee to other people to spur development. As a door opener, the mentor also opens doors to information by directing mentee to resources.
How Do I Become a Mentor?
Step 1 :
Register as a mentor by clicking on the button below. Registration must be completed before the 25th May and please attach your CV to the form.
Step 2 :
A Life Choices coach will contact you for a telephonic interview.
Step 3 :
You will be required to attend a full day induction training. You can choose one of the following dates: 20th or 27th June 2015.
Step 4 :
You will meet one-on-one with your mentee's coach. This will an opportunity to get to know your mentee before meeting him/her in person.
Step 5 :
You will meet your mentee on the 18th of July 2015.
Step 6 :
You will be required to meet with your mentee at least once a month. This will be agreed according to your schedule.
Throughout the duration of your mentorship you will be contacted once a month by your mentee's coach for updates and feedback.
In November you will be invited to attend a mentor's gathering.
