DAWN Women’s Month Celebration – Dynamic African Women Now

On Wednesday, August 5th, The Novalis Ubuntu Institute hosted our annual Women’s Month Celebration

The event times were 10:00-15:00. The theme of this event was DAWN – Dynamic African Women Now. The dress code - Dress for A Radiant DAWN. Over 90 people attended. The DAWN event was in celebration of the dynamic roles women play in Africa.

Our programme featured drumming, poetry, and dance along with our DAWN speakers.  Speaker’s topics include women in; education, civil society, leadership and art & creativity.

Speakers include:

  • Nozizwe Madlala-Routledge - newly appointed Executive Director of Inyathelo
  • Cheryl Harper - Founder of We Can Change Our World
  • Alison Lazarus - Operational Director of the Zakheni Arts Therapy Foundation
  • Anneen Abels - Principal of Belthorn Primary School and a stakeholder in The Novalis Ubuntu Institute’s A Chance for Every Child Project

Creative performers include:

  • Haroldene Tshienda - author and performance poet
  • Ren Skyclad - Biodanza facilitator
  • Nicola Jackman - creative performer
  • Ongezwa Mbele poet
  • Performance by the cast of Egoli The Musical – Directed by Bongani Titana
