Cape Town Cycle Tour 2017 - Giving the Gift of Adventure
Categories: ALL THE NEWS , Disability, Sport
We aim to give the #GiftOfAdventure to some new young warriors, enabling them to share in the spirit of the Cape Town Cycle Tour.
We are thrilled to announce that Warrior On Wheels Foundation now has our own charity group in 2017 Cape Town Cycle Tour – the largest timed cycling event in the world. In 2013, through our engaging with the organisers at the Cape Town Cycle Tour, permission was granted, and the rules changed to allow for children with disabilities to participate in the iconic event towed in buggies.
We commend those involved at the Cape Town Cycle Tour Trust for the lengths they have gone to in order to ensure inclusion and safety for all in a 35,000 entrant event, and we value the ongoing support and relationship.
“They’re not the Warriors on Wheelchairs in the Cape Town Cycle Tour; they’re the Warriors on Wheels, just like 35,000 other cyclists.”
- Renée Jordaan, Operations Director of the Cape Town Cycle Tour –
This year we aim to give the #GiftOfAdventure to some new young warriors, enabling them to share in the spirit of the Cape Town Cycle Tour. Taking this into the future, we aim to see increasing numbers of warriors on wheels being empowered to participate. We need your help! We have aimed at a minimum of 3 buggy teams but if, through funding for additional buggies, we can enable more children to participate, we would love to do so. Here is how you can help:
In return the funder will get exposure during the race itself through branding on the buggies and/or cycling gear, acknowledgement in social media, video coverage, the WOW website, and/or a team of up to 11 riders. This is your opportunity to be part of something wonderful, and we look forward to hearing from you.
Visit our website page on the Cape Town Cycle Tour 2017 for more information. We look forward to hearing from you to discuss the various options of getting involved.
