The Picture the Change project, a CSI initiative from RamsayMedia and BoE Private Clients, calls on concerned South Africans to submit photos depicting how they would like the world to be or what they would like changed....

 

South Africans around the country have been invited to earn a million rand in media exposure for a charity close to their hearts – and win a SANParks holiday for their goodwill.

Winners will receive a one million rand media campaign publicising their worthy cause and a four-day stay at any one of SANParks 21 camps.

The emotive power of images and their ability to change people’s perceptions was the reason they were chosen to raise awareness of the many of deserving causes in South Africa, according to the organisers. The competition also enables ordinary people to make a major difference without it costing them anything.

Picture the Change calls for entrants to submit images they have taken or found that powerfully reflect change or the need for it. Entry is open in two categories: general public and the media (covering the marketing, media and advertising industries). Entries must be uploaded to Facebook, with the winner in each category receiving R300 000 in media space for their chosen cause in RamsayMedia’s magazines and digital and social media platforms, together with a SANParks-sponsored bush break, inclusive of flights.

Other winners will be drawn from an advertising agency lucky draw and a RamsayMedia staff competition that which will see one of the company-supported CSI initiatives benefiting from the media exposure – bringing the total commitment to the project to one million rand.

Winners will be announced at a Picture the Change party to be held in June 2012, where the images of approximately 100 finalists covering a broad range of causes will be showcased.

Picture the Change brings together the obvious synergies between RamsayMedia and BoE Private Clients, explained RamsayMedia’s managing director, Stuart Lowe. The media house has an ambitious CSI programme and a separate division to run it, while BoE Private Clients are leaders in the area of giving and philanthropy. The bank recently spearheaded research into what motivates people to contribute to worthy causes, which has resulted in The Giving Report.
