Antoine Perrau to speak at the Green Building Conference 2012

Categories: ALL THE NEWS , Housing & Living Conditions
He is an award winning French architect with much to share.

Award winning French architect Antoine Perrau uses design strategies developed by engineers from the University of Ile da la Reunion to create energy efficient, high performance buildings.

These bio climatic designs are geared to the high temperatures and humidity of the tropics, the principals of which can be applied directly in South Africa.

These bio climatic designs are geared to the high temperatures and humidity of the tropics, the principals of which can be applied directly in South Africa. Perrau’s most recent award winning building is designed entirely out of corrugated iron, similar to what the fishermen live in in Reunion, but with a twist – this corrugated iron repels heat by reflecting sunlight with an external foil layer and an inner insulating layer of non-heat-conducting material. The house has a unique ultra-simple yet high-tech aesthetic.

This year energy efficiency in buildings standard SANS 204 becomes mandatory – its technical terms and performance levels are not dissimilar to those pursued by Perrau and his contemporaries in Reunion Island. Share his insights during Module 3 – Energy Efficiency in Buildings at the Green Building Conference 2012.
