What is this event all about?
Embracing technology is no longer seen as a nice to have, but a necessity. Empowering teachers and students in the classroom, applying technology in new ways enables behavioural shift and inspires improved learning outcomes. Leaders in educational technology, Microsoft along with other organisations, will be on hand to present their technologies (hardware and software) via workshops, presentations, and demonstrations for all teachers.

Join us and be inspired. Not only inspired, but come to better understand how technology can work for you in your classroom.

HIGHLIGHTS:
- Two awesome talks to look out for – Jaye Richards-Hill from Microsoft & Karen Durandt from Vastratech (see details of talk below)
- New Minecraft: Education Edition Chemistry Module

Some good stuff…
Teachers will receive goody bags, AND ONE TEACHER will walk away with a voucher from Incredible Connection for R2,400… most importantly this is an opportunity to learn from experts and each other in a relaxed environment.
Light refreshments will be available on both days.

PROGRAMME OUTLINE

Friday, 23 March
14:00 to 14:30 - Arrival and Registration

14:30 – TALK: Jaye Richards-Hill, Microsoft - The class of 2030 – today’s pre-schoolers – need to be better prepared for an age of massive technological advance and even greater uncertainty. And many of today’s students are both clear and bold in their vision for the future. They want greater choice and control over how they learn, so they can solve social and global challenges not yet imagined, and be ready to thrive in their personal and professional lives.

By 2030 – and while automation replaces today’s lower-skill jobs – the fastest-growing occupations will require higher-level cognitive skills in areas such as collaboration, problem-solving, critical thinking, and creativity. To help all students build these crucial cognitive and social and emotional skills, educators will need training, technologies, and time.

This presentation will imagine what the world will look like in 2030 and try to suggest how education needs to align with this vision right now if we are to drive change rather than be driven by it…

15:00 to 16:30 - Rotational Workshops

Saturday, 24 March
9:30 for 10:00 - Arrival and Registration

10:00 - 10:30 – TALK: Karen Durandt, Vastratech - Will large interactive displays still be relevant in the classroom of tomorrow, with the 1:1 model for device deployment for learners, being considered as the new gold standard?
