Once again, the J.P. Morgan Corporate Challenge® Series got off to a flying start in South Africa.

One of the youngest events in the 37-year-old worldwide Series, Johannesburg is exceptionally vibrant and reflecting of its emerging business landscape. It celebrated its 10th running on a beautiful, blue-sky night with a capacity crowd of 13,110 entrants from 207 companies. "Madness" is what people generally say when you say that you are attempting arguably one of the toughest events in the world, The Cape Epic. But we have managed to make it even harder. We are going to do it as a couple on a tandem and have only trained for 8 weeks.



Afrika Tikkun calls on all 6-12 year old children to ride in their name on Saturday 9th March.

To help them continue their inspiring and life changing work with children and their families in South African townships, Afrika Tikkun an NPO that provides education, health and social services to children, youth and their families through centres of excellence in South African townships, recently launched the brand new ‘Cycle Stars’ campaign to encourage riders to raise funds on their behalf while participating in the Cycle Tour and Junior Tour 2013.   Read More...

The Amy Biehl Foundation once again welcomed volunteers from Northern Ireland to host a Sports Academy for 80 of their learners this October.

It was the eighth annual Academy, which was hosted by Hartleyvale Stadium and The River Club. Youngsters were educated in all skills associated with hockey, soccer and golf, and took part in a number of tournaments. Programmes were held during the school holidays between Monday 1 October and Friday 5 October.   Read More...


The first event of the ProNutro JAGRunners Community Cross Country league took place in at the Bonteheuwel Sports Ground Yesterday with great success. The league has been divided on four groups, taking place at the Bonteheuwel, Gugulethu, Swartklip (Mitchell’s Plain) and Macassar Sports grounds between 10 October and 8 November with the final between all the areas taking pace on the 10th at Gugulethu.   Read More...

As I sit here and write all that comes to mind is the smile I created on a child`s face today after they caught their very first wave. Being the author of a child’s smile is my daily mission as a surf coach with Waves for Change and it is far more fulfilling and rewarding than creating a new scientific theory. Here in the ocean, smiling is a spontaneous reaction that seems to affect everyone and can be transferred faster than HIV or AIDS, the virus we are here to tackle.

Waves for Change is making waves among the dusty streets of Masiphumelele – my community. It is making waves because it opens up discussions among young teenagers about the various challenges they face daily. The teenagers find an Oasis and a place refuge whenever we come together daily to discus our issues. Our issues or challenges are mainly HIV and Aids which has left a huge itchy wound on the community because one night we slept as teenagers and the following cold morning we woke up as Adults of child headed households.   Read More...

I wish I could have a big surf board that can carry all the young girls, so that we can all share the same wave. The feeling of catching that first wave without standing.
