Image: EDCON sponsorship adds R27m to Casual Day coffers for disability sector Top performers in the Casual Day campaign for 2015 in KZN were announced to the project’s awards breakfast at the Elangeni Hotel in Durban.

Sponsored by the Edcon Group and supported by a number of corporates, Casual Day is the flagship project of the National Council for Persons with Physical Disabilities in SA (NCPPDSA). The function was organised by a team from KZN APD whose director, Cheryl Naidoo, thanked all the attendees for their contribution towards the project.   Read More...

Image: Allocation for 250 people with disabilities from the National Skills Fund (NSF) In 2012 the Western Cape Branch received a funding allocation for a learnership for 250 people with disabilities from the National Skills Fund

This allocation was divided into 2 phases.  During Phase 1 250 people with disabilities were enrolled in the learnership and received training in Business Practice, NQF 1.  This Phase was completed at the end of August 2013, but learners did not receive a qualification certificate from the relevant SETA due to delays in finalising the moderation processes.   Read More...

Image: Capetonians rally to help family with epilepsy together with Chaeli Campaign Ambassadors programme People from various parts of Cape Town have rallied to help a Site C family with a disabled teenager who, like her father, has epilepsy.

In June, GroundUp revealed the plight of disabled Khayelitsha 14-year-old Siphokazi Rululu and her father, Ayanda Qhara, who both live with chronic epilepsy.   Read More...
