The Cape Town Science Centre celebrates teachers

Categories: ALL THE NEWS , Education
In the spirit of Freedom Day, on Friday the 28th of April, the Cape Town Science Centre (CTSC) will be paying tribute to teachers.

Teachers who have dedicated a considerable part of their life to impart moral and academic knowledge to their students. On this day, teachers will gain free entry to CTSC in order to enjoy its hands-on interactive exhibits and people centered activities which include popular science shows, science theatre, workshops and many other entertaining science based activities.

Teachers encourage us to reach for the skies, fearlessly and passionately. We admire these role models for all the knowledge they share, and love them for their ability to touch our hearts. They teach us to face the most difficult challenges of life and get through them effectively. Without teachers, learning is barren, life is not filled with questions, and learning becomes monotonous.

“Teachers are a significant part of everyone's life. They show us the right path and groom us to become better citizens. They are rock stars and game-changers, who are the motivating factors behind our success.” remarked Nadine Nortier, the Senior Science Communicator at the Cape Town Science Centre. “We therefore recognise the importance of stimulating our teachers as it is our purpose to make sense of the science that shapes our lives and trigger the spark that ignites young minds to want to study maths, science and technology and lead them to think of a career or life-long interest in these subjects.” she added.

“With this initiative we hope to inspire our teachers to join us in our mission to make a hands-on contribution to South Africa’s future by strengthening its science and technology culture through interactive methods of teaching: to excite the youth of and general public about science, and offer educational services to learners and educators across South Africa.” concluded Nadine.

Teachers will sign in at the registration desk by presenting their Persal Numbers. Should you wish to bring your family along, please note that standard entry fees apply. For more details about the programme of the day and opening times contact nomfundo@ctsc.org.za or call (021) 300-3200.
