Universal Children's Day-Company's Gardens, Cape Town 18 Nov

Social movement EMBRACE, together with organisations across the city, will once again be hosting the Kids @ The Centre event at the Company’s Gardens in Cape Town, transforming it into a spectacular interactive experience for children.

Event Details:

Date            :     Saturday, 18 November
Time            :    10.00 – 14.00
Venue          :    The Company’s Garden, Cape Town
Cost            :     None

Inviting children and adults from across the city to join them free of charge, the express purpose of the event is to show children that they too have a place in the city and to remind the adults who care for them of the enormous value of their children. And most importantly to have a day of fun!

Now in it's second year, the event commemorates Universal Children's Day with over 30 different Western Cape organisations dedicated to the well-being and promotion of children. These include the Western Cape Department of Health, Jungle Theatre Company, Nal'ibali and Iziko museums to name a few. By making a visual impact and designing an event especially for children, EMBRACE continues to bring the agenda of children to the fore and to connect families from across the country in a bid to achieve solidarity rather than charity.

Please see press release. If you would like any further information, speak with Julie Mentor from EMBRACE

Image: Embrace Dignity and our allies had a successful Freedom March to Parliament on 27 April in SA A petition and memorandum was presented to President Jacob Zuma to demand freedom of those enslaved through prostitution and sex trafficking.

The theme for our march, #NoFreeChoiceMeansNoFreedom is echoed in the words of former President Nelson Mandela when he said: “As long as many of our people still live in utter poverty, as long as children still live under plastic covers, as long as many of our people are still without jobs, no South African should rest and wallow in the joy of freedom”. Mandela knew that to be free did not merely translate to casting off one’s own chains, “but [entails living] in a way that respects and enhances the freedom of others”.   Read More...
