An enthusiastic group of golfers took a mental health day in support of the patients at Valkenberg Hospital, on 12 May 2017 at Rondebosch Golf Course. 


Image: Care and Share 2016 Three teams from Old Mutual were recently “admitted” to Valkenberg to help the Friends of Valkenberg get reading for Christmas at the hospital.

The teams wrapped gifts, prepared party food and contributed to the cost of the activities which form part of a recovery programme that ensures that people in hospital over this period do not feel forgotten and remain connected to what is happening in their communities.   Read More...

Friends of Valkenberg run various recovery groups with the intention not only of teaching life skills, but also helping people into meaningful employment to end the cycle of poverty which often contributes to relapse. 



The “Voices of the Friends” had a chance to speak at the Friends of Valkenberg Trust AGM this year with service users and volunteers taking the stand with staff, to share their experiences of recovery from mental illness.   Read More...
