About Us

Elves At Work believes that the world will be a better place if more people exercised their creativity!

We are a team of expert elves who are passionate about empowering people using sewing as a foundation.

Our sewing workshops and programs aim to inspire creativity, design and entrepreneurship. We create platforms for individuals to experience, express and share their creativity so that they can effect change in their lives and their community.

Elves At Work has a Level 1 BBBEE status and is a 100% black female owned business.
 


 

 

Programmes

Programmes

Elves At Work offers a range of creative courses and training with a specific focus on sewing skills.

Our sewing studio, established in 2011, has to date trained hundreds of men, woman and children in the art of sewing.

Courses include:

1. Basic Sewing Workshop

This is an intensive and practical 3 hour sewing class designed for the absolute beginner. Each student receives a Basic Sewing Starter kit with all the required basic sewing tools. Students will leave with an understanding of the sewing machine and will also complete their first sewing project.

2. Sewing Membership

Students move through five levels with projects progressively increasing in difficulty. This allows students to gradually hone their sewing skills. In each level students choose from a list of projects to complete before graduating to the next level. Sewing Members will leave with a thorough knowledge of sewing techniques, sewing equipment and garment construction.

Please Note:

  • Option 1 requires clients to purchase their own project books, patterns,  haberdashery and fabric needed to complete all projects
  • Workshops are conducted at our Salt River Studio. 
  • If you would like training to be conducted at another venue, please ensure that your venue meets our requirements list.
  • Minimum of 8 participants required to run the program
  • Membership training happens once a week for 1 hour on a scheduled day and time
  • NB* Client to make provisions for machine maintenance and equipment shrinkage for the duration of the program
