It is absolute devastation in Masiphumelele after a raging fire fuelled by wind ripped through the community last night.

Many thousands have been left homeless and hundreds if not thousands of animals have been displaced or injured. Sadly, many animals also perished in the fire.

TEARS Animal Rescue is on the scene searching for injured animals that are hiding in the rubble and those suffering injuries or smoke inhalation.

Says General Manager Lauren Carlyle, “We are calling for food and blankets for displaced and injured cats and dogs as well as donations to assist with medical treatments. We are delivering pet food parcels and water bowls to surviving animals across the affected area in the community”

Although the fire is contained, the wind, smoke and heat makes finding surviving pets challenging.

TEARS Animal Rescue Operations Manager Mandy Store says “We will continue to scout for injured and displaced cats and dogs throughout the days ahead as the rubble is lifted and those who survived try to return to their homes.”

You can help by donating pet food and blankets to assist the communities.

Either purchase donations from the TEARS Online Shop or drop them at a Charity Shop or TEARS kennels.

Donations for assistance with medical treatments are greatly appreciated
