A Night to “Light Up the World”: Amy Foundation Gala Dinner and Auction 2024

Author: Amy Foundation

This past Saturday 23rd November, the Amy Foundation Gala Dinner and Auction radiated inspiration, talent, and generosity under the theme “Light Up the World.”

Held at the elegant Century City Conference Centre, the event showcased the power of unity and commitment to transforming the lives of South Africa’s youth.

The theme resonated strongly as the Amy Foundation’s performing arts learners captivated the audience with their outstanding performances. Directed by Aviva Pelham and choreographed by Paul Johnson, these young stars quite literally lit up the world with their talent, passion, and energy.

Their artistry is a testament to the transformative power of the Amy Foundation’s After-School Programme and Youth Skills Development Programme, which empower over 2000 young people annually. With funds raised through auctions, pledges, and donations during the evening, the foundation is ready to continue changing lives in 2025.

A special highlight of the evening was the presentation of the Amy Foundation Ubuntu Award to the iconic Yvonne Chaka Chaka. Known as the "Princess of Africa," Yvonne was celebrated for her lifelong dedication to social upliftment and for embodying the spirit of Ubuntu.

The Amy Foundation extends profound gratitude to its valued partners and supporters who made this memorable evening possible and special thanks to our décor and production teams for creating a magical atmosphere.

The evening would not have been complete without our wonderful MC, Graeme Richards, who guided us with charm and enthusiasm, and auctioneer Rolo Armer, whose spirited energy drove the auctions. A heartfelt thank you to Selim Kagee for his enchanting musical performance that left everyone inspired.

Thanks to the incredible generosity of our supporters, the funds raised through the raffle, Sponsor a Youth initiative, and live and silent auctions will enable the Amy Foundation to continue making a profound impact. Together, we are shaping a brighter future for South Africa’s youth—one light at a time.
