Journey through July with The Chaeli Campaign

Author: riaan@wecanchange.co.za

There may have been stricter lockdown measures in South Africa this month but we are blown away by how our supporters came together to make July an incredible one. Take a look at what we got up to this month...

SPOTLIGHT ON....
Inclusive Education

Do you ever find yourself asking what Inclusive Education means?

Inclusive Education promotes the inclusion of all children including those who may have a barrier to learning. Inclusive Education requires the school environment to change and what happens in the classroom to change in order to accommodate the needs of each individual learner.

The Chaeli Campaign runs an Early Childhood Development Inclusion Programme in disadvanged communities as well as supports children with disabilities in mainstream schools.

We partner with preschools and provide skills development for preschoolers, their parents and teachers. We believe our key themes of INCLUSION, ABILITY and POSSIBILITY assists in creating supportive, accepting, creative learning environments for children of all abilities.

Our very own Chaeli Cottage Preschool is a wonderful example of an inclusive ECD learning environment.

STORY OF HOPE...
Amy Sheldon

This month we are sharing the Story of Hope of long-time friend and pledge partner to The Chaeli Campaign, Amy Sheldon.

After raising funds through The Chaeli Campaign, Amy became the beneficiary of her first motorised wheelchair in 2007. We caught up with Amy and we are so glad that she shared her story with us. You can read more about her journey here.

Mandela Day Magic

This year we ran two Mandela Day Challenges and to say they were amazing would be an understatement! Here's what we got up to...

GLASS FOR OUR CLASS

We had a goal to upgrade 128 panes of glass to safety glass and with the generosity of our amazing supporters we were able reach that goal! The final step to completing the registration for Chaeli Cottage Preschool is underway. Thank you to all who contributed!

CHAELI COTTAGE CHALLENGE

Chris, a parent of one of our Chaeli Cottage Preschool kiddies, put a challenge out to his friends and fellow parents to complete an activity of their own choosing on Mandela Day in support of the preschool. The challenge saw parents, children and fellow supporters out & about on 18 July. Thank you to everyone who supported and took on this challenge!
