Mandela Month Campaign
Author: Nazareth House

July has arrived and we are amid a very cold winter. However, here at Nazareth Care, we have plenty of warm memories and hearts to share in our monthly news.
We are delighted to have had a visit from our Superior General, Sister Brenda Mc Call and General Councilor, Sister Veronica Kealey, all the way from the Motherhouse of the Sisters of Nazareth, in Hammersmith, London. They visited all our facilities throughout the region: Pretoria, Johannesburg, Harare, Port Elizabeth, Durban, Cape Town, 14 Streams and Frances Shannon Centre. It was a privilege to share our warm African hospitality with them and show the progress in the region.
On the 18th of July, we celebrate Nelson Mandela Day. The global theme for this year is “Do what you can, with what you have, wherever you are.” The call to action is as broad and as inclusive as possible – identify those in need around you and do what you can to make a difference for them. This call for action ties in perfectly with Nazareth Care’s vision of striving to maintain and improve the quality of life of those whose lives we touch. As a friend of Nazareth Care, please join our Mandela Day campaign and assist us to make a difference in the lives of those in our care.
Another winter warmer is our “Wrapped in Love” knitting project. We are calling upon all our houses, volunteers, and friends, to take up the knitting needles and create blankets that symbolize our love and bring warmth to our residents, children and those in our outreach programmes. A link to the project details can be found in our newsletter.
May July be a month of caring and sharing for all; we are forever grateful for your continuous effort in supporting our cause.
This year for Nelson Mandela Day we are asking friends of Nazareth, supporters, businesses, and philanthropists to support our Mandela Month campaign.
We wish for donors to contribute towards one of our high-priority projects at our Nazareth Houses to make a long-lasting impact on the vulnerable in our care. This can be done via a financial contribution, or a gift/service in kind.
