Nelson Mandela once said; “Our rich and varied cultural heritage has a profound power to help build our nation.”

OCTOBER 2021

Word from our
leadership team

Nelson Mandela once said; “Our rich and varied cultural heritage has a profound power to help build our nation.” Having just celebrated Heritage Day in our Nazareth Houses, this message resonates so fittingly amongst the collective group of residents, families, friends, supporters, children and staff who together make up the Nazareth Care family. It’s what makes this organisation tick, individuals from different walks of life all with a shared interested. Our staff and volunteers are committed to caring, and the act of caring is what truly can change the world. If you care about your cause, you find a way to create impact, and for us, that’s the very reason so many seek our care. Caring for the aged in our Nazareth Houses, caring for the children in our Child and Youth Care Centres, and caring for those we assist via our outreaches. We’d just like to say thank you to each one of our staff, volunteers, and supporters for your contribution to Nazareth Care Africa: “Together we are stronger.”

This month we celebrate our core value ‘Respect’. Respect is one of those things in life that can only be earned, not bought, not forced, and not demanded. Treat people the way you want to be treated and talk to people the way you want to be talked to. Victoire Larmenier showed consideration, appreciation and regard for the rights, values and beliefs of all. “As often as you did it to one of these….you did it to me.” – Matt 25:40.

The unique dignity of each person is held in high esteem and with special consideration. Without exception, we show thoughtfulness, courtesy and care. This month we celebrate the anniversary of two Nazareth Houses in the region. Nazareth House Pretoria and Nazareth House Kimberly, which unfortunately closed its doors in 2001 due to a lack of funding. More exciting news for our Houses, is the relaxation of the national lockdown, and subsequently the relaxation of our visitation policy within the Houses. We’re sure our residents and families are thrilled to see one another again. We leave you with this: “Train your mind to see the good in everything. Positivity is a choice. The happiness of your life depends on the quality of your thoughts.”

What matters most is how we meet each decade. When our attitude is right the world is right, and we enjoy the wonders it has to offer.

They’re called the golden years for a reason. Getting older has its perks. (Read More)

My Vocational Journey: Sister Bulangizi Mugandei

When l was in primary school we were taught by the sisters ( Missionary Daughters of Calvary). l always admired their beautiful white habits. And l wanted to be a sister because of sister’s habits. Support Our
20K Campaign

Nazareth Care is reliant on donations to ensure the sustainability and longevity of the organisation. Continuing the legacy of the Sisters of Nazareth and the care Nazareth House offers to the most vulnerable, it is essential to educate a broader audience of our Mission and seek further funding in addition to our other income streams. The 20K Campaign will aid in reducing the monthly shortfall. These funds will be used across our organisation, Nazareth Care Africa, enabling the organisation to continue its’ efforts in all areas.

Show your support and JOIN NOW. It only takes 3 easy steps, it's the most you can do.
