ORASECOM 2021: an advertising opportunity

Author: riaan@wecanchange.co.za

The Enviro Report has been granted the opportunity to be the official film-maker for the ORASECOM 2021 adventure.

This event takes place over the first 3 weeks of October 2021, and involves scientists and committed citizens, performing the 5 year update on the “State of the River” reporting for the entire Orange River system.

This important work spans a million square kilometres, and involves four countries. The objective is to report on the environmental status of the river system, including all major tributaries, from the various sources, to the sea on the west coast. Previously, project funders used CSI money to pay for a video to be made to showcase the work, and the state of the river system.

In 2021 the funding excludes the film-making element, in order to maximise the spend on the actual work, and the door is open to concerned and involved corporate sponsors to effectively co-fund the work by covering the filming element. This comes with an opportunity for a corporate to showcase their commitment and involvement by filling the advertising opportunity that accompanies the telling of this story.

This formula aligns perfectly with what we at The Enviro Report do:  Our business model involves showcasing great, on the ground environmental work, and finding an advertiser to fund that filming work, so that environmental projects are left with more cash for the ground work that they do.

This is an opportunity for a corporate sponsor to get broad advertising exposure, where they can showcase their environmental concerns and commitment. We at The Enviro Report are able to make a documentary, and/or tell the story in a series of shorter instalments, in a package tailor made to suit the advertiser.   Since the project covers work in Namibia, Botswana, Lesotho and South Africa, and covers such a vast expanse of countryside, the opportunity suits an enterprise with a national reach. It is also pertinent that this year the project involves volunteers. Added to this is the element of overlanding adventure and teamwork in the great outdoors, giving the project a very well-defined profile.  Here is an opportunity for an advertiser to have representatives on the adventure itself, embedded and participating, and to tailor-make the content to suit their brand and the interests of their customers.
