LEARN TO LIVE SCHOOL
The school has a capacity for 230 learners this year. · With 8 teachers – 5 PBL & 3 Language teachers, the school's objective is to use Project-based learning as an instructional approach designed to give students the opportunity to develop knowledge and skills through engaging projects set around challenges and problems they may face in the real world. NEETs EMPLOYABILITY PROGRAMME
The NEETS' programme is new and offers education in through an innovative and engaging pedagogy, in line with the Learn to Live’s Project-based learning (PBL) approach. It adopts the same platform to develop work readiness for youth at risk that have not completed their basic education aged 18 to 26.
This programme will lead, in time, to a Further Education and Training Certificate in Generic Management. The emphasis is on the design and facilitation of high-quality learning experiences that are relevant to learners in today’s rapidly changing technology-driven world.
The NEETS beneficiaries are recruited from specific disadvantaged communities within the greater Cape Town area in order to create critical mass, a tipping point of social change within the beneficiaries’ communities.
This is a 12-month programme, consisting of 3 modules.

Programmes run by The Salesian Institute Youth Projects address the needs of at-risk youth who could not complete their formal education, thus raising the skills levels of younger and older youth. The Porsche programme is more specialised, requiring a matric certificate with mathematics and physical science for applicants to be considered for the three-year apprenticeship for learners aged 18-24 years. NEETS' skills are aimed at securing jobs in general maintenance in the retail and hospitality industries, which are supported by both community-based and organisational work experience facilitated by the programme.
