“The Virtual Fitness Challenge is a fun way for individuals and corporates from all fitness levels to get involved in virtual volunteering, post the pandemic. By participating in the campaign or donating to a friend who is participating, you are doing so much more than getting fit and having fun. You are transforming the lives of students, families and communities. Join me for our Virtual Fitness Challenge this September and make a difference,” says Adri Marais, CEO of Christel House South Africa.

The Virtual Fitness Campaign is taking place globally across various Christel House institutions around the world, including Mexico, the United States, India and the United Kingdom. Christel House SA aims to raise R300 000 and meet a collective fitness goal of 25 663kms.

Christel House SA is a no-fee school that enrols more than 1000 students from some of Cape Town’s poorest neighbourhoods and supports them for 19 years (Grade RR to Grade 12 and five years post-school) through character-based and career-focused education. The main criterion for admission to Christel House is not evidence of talent – but evidence of poverty. To date, Christel House has produced many successful alumni, including doctors, engineers, lawyers, social workers, and teachers. The school has achieved a 99% matric pass rate since inception and 91% of graduates are employed or studying. Join the campaign and help to transform many more lives.

The Virtual Fitness Challenge is proudly presented by leading international supply chain solutions company, CHEP. “We have a long-standing relationship with Christel House as one of our Corporate Social Investment (CSI) beneficiaries, and we are proud to be able to support them in the Virtual Fitness challenge. As an organisation with sustainability in our DNA, CHEP is committed to becoming a regenerative company that puts back more into the environment than it takes out. This also means giving back to our communities in which we operate in. We have the privilege to show our commitment and dedication to our goals by partnering with the school. Our partnership is a precious opportunity, and an apt one, in that CHEP, identifies completely with the school’s mission to build self-sufficient, contributing members of society,” says Marietjie Brown, Sustainability and Governance lead for CHEP India, Middle East, Turkey, and Africa (IMETA).

Silver Senior Phase sponsor and global commerce business, Smollan, has taken up the challenge with their staff by integrating their Well Programme. “Our Smollan Being Well Programme offers support services across the wellbeing spectrum and as a part of our physical wellbeing initiatives, we are proud to be supporting Christel House in their virtual fitness challenge. For the month of September, I encourage as many people as possible to join me as we get moving, to support this great initiative and to support each other’s physical wellbeing journey.“ Michael Power, Smollan Chief Executive Africa
