Why Technology is Critical to Inform ESG Strategy and How GCX’s Move to Hyperautomation Can Help You

Author: info@klassikdigital.co.za

We find ourselves in combustible and confusing times where we have to ask ourselves if we have actually evolved as a species or have we merely become more sophisticated.

We find ourselves in combustible and confusing times where we have to ask ourselves if we have actually evolved as a species or have we merely become more sophisticated.

Where we may have evolved, however, and quite swiftly, could be evident in this massive ESG wave that is building. This has happened in parallel with the strange events of the last two years where for the first time, there is a massive urgency for companies to be more honest in their communications and for there to be more deliberate understanding in managing their impact on the environment and society.

We are seeing companies coming out of the woodwork that have been confined to a perennial, box-ticking ritual over the last decade. They have now woken up under sudden pressure from customers, financiers, investors, employees, NGOs, and other stakeholder groups to take these things more seriously where annual bonuses, discounted interest rates, and increased liquidity are now being linked to a company’s ESG performance. Box-ticking is now over, it’s expired, and it has gone beyond its shelf life.

We at GCX are at the coal face of this transition with our clients. We help companies move beyond this frustrating compliance mindset into a very exciting performance management and reporting phase. We develop strategic roadmaps with our clients and set baselines and targets, walking a path with them to achieve them.

Well in the wake of all the doom and gloom being thrown at us through the media, I can honestly say that there is a very bright ray of light that is shining through and that for the first time in the 15 years I have been in the sustainability space, that it is finally being taken seriously, firstly because of the awareness of impact as well as companies are running out of wriggle room as the market forces that are driving ESG activity, closes in on them.

This is all good news for the world, and we feel blessed to be part of it!
